Three Days Review

Title: Three Days
AKA: 3 Days
Genre:  Action, Thriller, Political, Crime, Mystery, Melodrama, Romance
Episodes: 16
Broadcast period: 2014-Mar to 2014-May
Cast: Park Yoo Chun (Mickey), Son Hyun Joo, Park Ha Sun, So Yi Hyun, Yoon Je Moon, Choi Won Jung and Jang Hyun Sung.

After being suspended for loosing focus while protecting the President (Son Hyun Joo), Han Tae Kyung (Park Yoo Chun) holds a funeral service for his father who had passed on that very day, which was also the reason for his loss of focus.  There he meets Yoon Bo Won (Park Ha Sun) a country police woman, who showed up to ask some follow –up questions on his father’s death. At first the questions seem normal, but as she continues, Tae Kyung notices that the ‘accident’ that resulted in his father’s death wasn’t as accidental as he thought.
As the evening continues he is involved in several weird situations which lead him to finding out about the most shocking fact: an attempt of assassination on the president. Hurrying to convey this news to his chief (Jang Hyun Sung.), he is caught up in a situation with the president missing and is accused of being responsible for it.
Now, on the run, he has to find the president before the end of the 72 hours since he went missing in order to not cause havoc amongst the public of South Korea, but also save him from the assassinator after him…

Sorry about the review being confusing, but you’ll have to watch it in order to understand it. And to be honest the story is much more than what I have written.
To start with I get why it’s called 3 days, but the story expands to much more than that. The general story is about the three days in which the assassination is planned – or in the three days where they are looking for the president – but it really is much more. I guess that is why I like it so much. It reminds me of the period dramas where the king is to be assassinated and he is confused at who to trust, except of course it is much harder to actually kill him (not just run into his room and kill him). And I love that the question that everyone else wonders is answered (this one: If you are the president, why are you so weak).
Besides that I like Yoo Chun and his acting – though I am not used to this kind of Yoo Chun. And I am in love with Park Ha Sun, which is tough work for a female actress to do (I really really really like her).
The storyline is also confusing and keeps you on your toes – kind of is nice to watch something that you are unsure how it’ll end.
To sum up: good drama with a good storyline.

Kamji’s Verdict:
Okay, lots of action, just too bad it was badly executed. I guess the budget were a little tight, because somehow I were mostly annoyed by those scenes than excited. it continues throughout the drama, I just keep noticing the errors. There were too many of those errors, for example, you see a person walking on a carpet, and another person inside a room in the other end of the corridor can hear his footsteps, which sound like he is walking on marble. On the one hand, it delivered what I needed it to and wrapped everything up with a happy ending without feeling unrealistic, so it definitely wasn’t unsuccessful.

When her father is executed, the detective in charge Kim Seung Ho (Jung Kwang Pyul) discovers that Soo Yeons father in fact is innocent, but is forced to keep quite by the higher ups to maintain the reputation of the police force. When he can’t cope with it anymore he tells it to Soo Yeons mother, who decides to go to his door step and move in with him and his daughter.
At the same time Han Jung Woo (Yeo Jin Goo) returns from America after hearing that his father, Han Tae Joon (Han Jin Hee) a wealthy CEO, has become ill. But when he returns he is met with rejection from his father, so he walks outside and meets Lee Soo Yeon. Unaware about her background he starts to like her. At first Soo Yeon tries to ignore him, but when he persists, they agree to meet the next day. Unfortunately the next day, Jung Woo’s grandfather, whom Jung Woo never met, had died, and he is to attend the funeral.  Some time back, Jung Woo’s father Han Tae Joon had made sure that his father had died, in order to get his money, but his stepmother hid the money aware of Tae Joon's greed. So Tae Joon tried to kill his much younger stepbrother Kang Hyung Joon (Ahn Do Gyu), but Hyung Joon had managed to run away with his nanny. All this in secret.
When Jung Woo starts in school, he finds out about Soo Yeon, thus tries to ignore her however they become friends in the end. But due to a traumatic event the two get separated and Soo Yeon disappears.
14 years later, Han Jung Woo (Park Yoo Chun) now a detective, has spent all years looking for Soo Yeon and has been taking care of Soo Yeons mother and detective Kim’s daughter who had lost her father, after trying to find Soo Yeon. Lee Soo Yeon now Zoey Lou (Yoon Eun Hye) has become a famous designer living with Kang Hyung Joon (Yoo Seung Hoon) now Harry Borrison.
After the death of Hyung Joon’s nanny, who had been living with them as Michelle Kim, Jung Woo is assigned to the case. Here he meets Zoey, who has the same smile and voice as Soo Yeon, but denies everything. So he tries to get close, and Zoey tries to get revenge. Harry on the other hand has another agenda: he wants to get revenge on his stepbrother… and the stepbrother’s son.

This drama just beats all melodramas out there, I mean wow... This really is one cruel drama, and heart wrecking on top of that, and all that without being draggy. Well I didn’t feel it was draggy, I just felt it was sad, really sad - cried, me! The kids that acted in the first part were brilliant, and I Yoo Chun blew me away (kind of expected it to like the way he acted in Rooftop - but it was way better!) Though, I’m biting my tongue saying this, I am disappointed in Eun Hye’s acting. She was just so-so, even though she tries really hard, and I mean she does a decent job, but if I compare with everyone else, it becomes dull you know - but it doesn’t ruin the all in all drama. The storyline is brilliant, and all the detailes are amazing, and the choice of actors and making of characters was perfect! Like I find Yoo Seung Ho’s smile scary now :( (:P)
My reason for the 4 heart rating is just because I did feel some parts typical - yes bit more modern, but still could’ve avoided them altogether - but that’s me.
I really recommend this drama, really good, and defiantly worth your time!

Rooftop Prince Review

Title: Rooftop Prince
AKA:  Attic Prince / Oktabbang Wangseja
Genre:  Fantasy, Comedy, Romance
Episodes: 20
Broadcast period:  2012-Mar-21 to 2012-May-24
Cast:  Micky Yoochun, Choi Won Hong, Han Ji Min, Jun Min Seo, Lee Tae Sung, Jung Yoo mi, Kim So Hyun, Lee Min Ho, Choi Woo Shik, Jung Suk Won, Ban Hyo Jung, Ahn Suk Hwan, Park Joon Geum, Lee Moon Shik, Song Ok Sook, Na Toung Hee ..

Park Ha/Bu Young (the young Han Ji Min) is to be married with the young crown prince (young Yoochun), but she gets scarred for life by her sister by accident, so her sister young Se Na (young Jung Yoo Mi) is to be married with the crown prince instead. Several years later, Se Na is found mysteriously dead. The people believe it wasn’t a murder, but the crown prince knows it can’t be otherwise and that he must investigate the matter. The same night as the crown prince and his 3 retainers are fleeing from some strange men, they are suddenly transported into the future, and land on the rooftop apartment of Park Ha/Bu Young. Park Ha is the reincarnation of Bu Young, and she somehow ends up unwillingly taking care of the four, teaching them how to get by in the new life. Meanwhile the crown prince also sees Se Na, the reincarnation of his wife, and desperately tries to meet her and find out what really happened. He gets a great opportunity as he finds out his reincarnation had disappeared and his family (rich business family) is looking for him, his reincarnation was killed, and so he also tries to figure out that mystery.

This drama was quite not what I had expected. I was a bit disappointed, maybe because I had too many spoilers on tumblr and I expected quite a lot. But it’s not that it was bad, it really did have its funny moments and the story overall is quite good and I get it, but really not my thing. It’s kinda like I didn’t really know what the whole point really was? For him to realize that whole thing with Bu Young, or to find out who his wife really was? Or what? It had its funny moments and I get that it’s a comedy and fiction but it still had some things that didn’t make any sense, and I know it might not be comparable to Queen In hyun’s man but that one was better. Though the only thing similar is the timeslip thing, so not sure if I can compare. But it wasn’t bad at all and I don’t regret watching it or anything. It’s just not as good as I wanted it to be.

Bunji's Verdict
Summing up in one word: likable. Lol, okay I can’t really sum it up in one word, but the drama has heart (of course depending on the character). The beginning actually captures your attention, but somehow it becomes heavy, though not worse than many others (City Hunter, Man of Honor etc.), you know the entire “rightful/righteous” part. The difference is that in this the lead couple actually fights together, not “trying-to-protect-while-pushing-each-other-away”. Yoo Chun is cute no doubt, and does a pretty good job with the acting as a king, was actually stunned by the acting - it’s been a while I guess. I didn’t really enjoy Han Ji Min’s acting, or being, call it what you want, there is just something that bothers me about her (same with Park Min Young and Park Shin Hye), even though her character was adorable and her acting okay, I found her annoying - but managed to look past her, and enjoy the drama.
Two things bothered me though: One, the fact that they came to the future, but weren’t interested in finding out what happened in the past, and two, the sudden long lost appearance of the mother in the picture… but else, it’s very reasonable..

Sungkyunkwan scandal Review

Title: Sungkyunkwan Scandal
Genre: Romance, comedy
Episodes: 20
Broadcast period: 2010-Aug-30 to 2010-Nov-02
Cast: Micky Yoochun, Park Min Young, Song Joong Ki, Yoo Ah In, Seo Hyo Rim, Kim Min Seo ...

The story takes place in old time korea, Kim Yoon Hee is a young girl who lost her father at a young age and lives with her mother and sick brother. She disguises herself as a man to be able to work at a bookstore so she can earn money for her family. One day she is hired to help someone at the enterance examn for the school sungkyunkwan. But then she accidently tries to help the wrong person, Lee Sun Joon (Micky Yoochun) and he actually convinces her to take the exam herself, she then does and passes so she enters the school. Then fate strikes again and she is to share room with him, and a senior Geol Oh who is the "good bad-boy", the one that never shows up at classes and is rebellious. While she is at the school she get closer and closer to her roommates but she must not be found out, if they find out that she is a girl she would get punished. But the senior student and friend of Geol Oh suspects Yoon Hee and tries to find out the truth. The 4 of them develop a great friendship through lots of trials and are even pointed out by the king for a secret mission.

So the first thought is probably "typical!" and yes it is typical,, but,, in a refreshing way. no wht i mean is that even though its that same old story we hear again and again it is fine as long as it got what a good drama needs. It had great actors and a great story with lots of fun. I liked every detail about it like those fun moments between them as friends. But one thing that i wasnt too crazy about was micky yoochun in this drama. Its not that i got anything against him its just that his role didnt feel right, and that make me think "please dont end up with him!!" throughout the whole drama because kyaaa a real namja is there!! geol oh! he is the good badboy and he is soooo good at it! love that kind of roles! and lol the guy that calls himself yorim, he was real fun and cute. Anyway, i guess also the last few episodes are too much about "love", which was kinda.. i dont knw.. it was too much of it in the end. But still it was a really nice endning LOL

Bunji's Verdict
Okay, to start out I have to say, this is the first historical drama I’ve finished, since I could never relate nor understand the stories of the others. But Sungkyunkwan Scandal is different, you get what they are saying, even though it’s completely formal, not to mention ‘poetic’, and all characters are relatable. I was surprised to see myself favoring the lead actor, which has never happened before; I usually fall for the jerk, the badass, or the ‘all-over-the-place-guy’, but this time and very first time, I fell for ‘Mr. Justice’/’Mr. Expressionless’. Yes, Micky Yoochun was the lead, but that didn’t make me like him, and I was almost 100% sure that I would fall for Gu Yung Ha. And honestly I was disappointed by the supporting actor; they did a HUGE job in making him feared and ‘the-toughest’, but besides people running away from him, he ended up becoming, I don’t know, not so deep, but then again that may be because the two characters Lee Sun Joon and Gu Yong Ha were insanely thick, that the Geol Oh character, didn’t shine as much, even the lead actress sort a flushed out.
Micky Yoochun surprised me, like insanely; never thought an Idol could act like that. I even ended up feeling bad for him, and started cursing.
But the drama is good, great actually, especially if you have watched a lot of bad/dull dramas. Personally for me it was a bit hard, since 80% of the time I knew what was going to happen, and besides yawning, rolling my eyes and repeating the same sentence (“Damn, Yoochun is hot”), there are only few scenes that made me interested, and most of them are either Yoochun’s or Song Joong Ki’s.
To sum up, a interesting watch, but since I can’t rate that I’ll write great.
