Monster Movie Review

Title: Monster
AKA: Monseuteo
Genre: Thriller
Origin: South Korea
Release Date: March 13. 2014
Cast: Lee Min Ki, Kim Go-eun, Kim Roi-ha, Kim Bo-seun, Ahn Seo-hyun, Kim Bo-ra, Nam Gyeong-eup, Han Da-eun

Bok Soo (Kim Go-eun) lives with her younger sister and taking care of her, she is very “slow” due to a developmental disability. She is not smart, but when she is angry, she goes crazy; that’s why people call her ‘psycho woman’, but nonetheless she is a brave young woman with a happy inner world. Their happy and peaceful lives get interrupted by the merciless killer Tae-Soo (Lee Min Ki).
Tae-Soo lives isolated from everyone deep in the forest, where no one can interrupt him. He has no emotions, and therefor kills without any guilt. His family has distanced themselves from him, because of fear. One day his brother contacts him because of a favor, and that leads Tae-Soo to kill Bok Soos beloved sister. Bok-soon is completely consumed by her grief, madness and uncontrollable rage. Despite her limited mental ability, she begins planning her revenge, and joins up with Na-ri, another girl who is being chased by Tae-soo.

Well… this is not a movie for scarycats like me. Now you are all warned. The movie was good, well-acted and purely psychopathic. I loved Lee Min Ki in this one; he should just do thrillers from now on (Kekeke). Somehow he got the face for being a serial killer, If I ever saw him on the street I would run the other way, that’s how much he freaked me in this movie.
I liked the idea that it was two people with their own mental disability facing each other, made it really interesting. The movie wasn’t serious all the way, there were some humorous, and loveable scenes too.
If you need something to watch a lonely Saturday night… this IS NOT THE ONE! You need at least 2 or 3 more people.
