Father is Strange Review

Title: Father is Strange
AKA: My Father is Weird
Genre: Family, Drama, Comedy
Episodes: 52
Broadcast Period: Mar-2017 to Aug-2017
Cast: Kim Yong Chul, Kim Hae Sook, Min Jin Woong, Lee Yoo Ri, Lee Joon, Ryu Hwa Young, Jung So Min,

This drama is about a family that lives on the outskirts of Seoul. Byun Han Soo (Kim Young Chul) is the father and his wife, Na Young Sil (Kim Hae Sook) is a dedicated, responsible mother to his three daughters and one son including Hye Young (Lee Yoo Ri), Mi Young (Jung So Min), Ra Young (Ryu Hwa Young) and Joon Young (Min Jin Woong).
Suddenly one day, Ahn Joong Hee (Lee Joon) shows up at the household, and declares that he is the son of the family. Ahn Joong Hee is an actor who used to be a member of an idol group. He gets accepted into the family and begins to live with them…

This was seriously a wonderful drama, loved it from 1 to 52. Maybe this statement is based on my still hyped emotions of it, but I just feel that this one captured a really special place in my heart. Maybe because it focused so much on the family relationships, and had some sprinkles of romance here and there, however the main theme kept shining out throughout the drama. The actors did a pretty decent job; they all were expressful of their character and made you love them and hate them at times. What I mostly like about this, is that it’s not like a typical family drama were they drag the whole point till the end, no, they reveal everything in the beginning, and you just enjoy seeing the story unfold with it. I’m definitely stating another family drama soon, I get so addicted to it, because I get so much more time with the characters, and I can truly see them develop, and I think that’s what makes the whole time worth for me.

Super Daddy Yeol Review

Title: Super Daddy Yeol
AKA: Super Daddy / Super Daddy Yul
Genre: Family, Comedy, Romance
Episodes: 16
Broadcast period: 2015-Mar to 2015-May
Cast: Lee Dong Gun, Lee Yoo Ri, Lee Ra, Seo Joon Young and Seo Ye Ji.

Cha Mi Rae (Lee Yoo Ri) is a single mother and doctor aiming to become a chief, in order to make life better for her daughter Sa Rang (Lee Ra) and herself. Having a strong and dominant personality, Mi Rae makes sure that no man can come close to her, even with her friend and hoobae Shin Woo Hyun (Seo Jun Young) trying to woo her. Mi Rae believes that no matter what, if it isn’t 100% it’s not worth it, which also is the way she bring up her daughter. Her entire life is turned upside down when she one afternoon passes out on the bathroom floor. She is diagnosed with terminal cancer, which will only give her few months to live. Now her daughter will be without a parent, so she decides to try and find her ex-boyfriend whom she believes would be the best father, Han Yeol (Lee Dong Gun).
Han Yeol is a former baseball player who has become a rehabilitation coach for that same team.  Filled with anger over Mi Rae leaving him years ago and breaking his heart, he has become a rather dull person.
When Mi Rae appears in front of Yeol with the goal of marrying him, he can’t believe her words. At first he refuses her, but remembering the past he decides to agree on a marriage contract…

I for some reason like Lee Dong Gun, but I have no idea why. I thought it was because of a drama from before, but I really don’t have any drama of his that I am fond of. Anyhow, this drama is quite good, though it has some of the typical Korean clichés, it really is very funny. Also it is very interesting as it is good. I mean the story is quite typical and so is the buildup, but nevertheless the drama is charming.
Lee Dong Gun and Lee Yu Ri are great together, though the chemistry felt a bit forced. The little Lee Ra was quite adorable, so no complaints there. I really liked the supporting actress Seo Ye Ji, but I dunno why: she was just kind of likable.
Well to sum up: a cute and nice drama, with a bit of comedy and romance.

Loving You Review

Title: Loving You
Genre: Drama, Romance
Episodes: 12
Broadcast period: 2002-Jul to 2002-Sep
Cast: Park Yong Ha, Eugene, Lee Yoo Ri and Lee Dong Wook

Lee Hyuk (Park Yong Ha) was once a director with dreams of becoming great - these dreams lead him to be pushing and stubborn. While shooting for a drama on seas on Jeju Island, Hyuk ignores the weather hazards and demands everyone go continue shooting, which eventually ends with Hyuk and one of his close friends falling into the water. This is seen by Jin Da Rae (Eugene) who jumps in and saves Hyuk. Though Hyuk survives, his friend dies, and Hyuk can’t shake off the guilt. At the same time, Da Rae and her mother are called to the hospital - her father had been found dead by drowning.
One year later, Hyuk and Da Rae are both living on Jeju Island, though with different views on life. Hyuk now takes care of the family café, but is rarely there, spending most of his time at the family tangerine plantation, away from everyone. Da Rae has given up on going to college, so she works several jobs, in order to support her mother. The two have several other encounters, but someone always end up squabbling.
When Hyuk’s younger brother Lee Min (Lee Dong Wook) and his film crew arrive to Jeju in order to film for their movie, Hyuk is reluctantly forced to hand over the café to Min and Da Rae is asked to play the female lead. Things get more and more confusing when Dae Rae’s mother finds the diary Da Rae’s father had written, and somehow involves Min and Hyuk’s father..

Seriously, how can they add SO much melo in a 12 episode drama!? Like it really has so many twists and turns, and worst of all it somehow ends up being NEVERENDING. It took me forever to finish this, mainly because one episode didn’t feel like an episode it felt like a day! I think this drama covered every crime except rape, lol, every other was there, correct me if I’m wrong. I love Eugene, but this drama was just not worth it. I really just wanted it to end, and thank god it did.
The drama is not bad, especially for classic Korean drama lovers, but I really just wanted to finish it. So if you are up for it, go ahead.
