Sad Movie Movie Review

Title: Sad Movie
Genre: Romance, Melodrama
Origin: Korea
Release date: October 20, 2005
Cast: Jung Woo Sung, Im Soo Jung, Cha Tae Hyun, Yeom Jeong Ah, Shin Min Ah, Son Tae Young, Lee Ki Woo and Yeo Jin Goo

Lee Jin Woo (Jung Woo Sung) is a firefighter that works extra hard on his job. Wanting to pop the question for his girlfriend Ahn Soo Jung (Im Soo Jung) a news caster who is waiting for it, he is waiting for just the right moment, only to screw it up by losing the ring. Soo Jungs sister, Ahn Soo Eun (Shin Min Ah) is deaf and works in an amusement park, as a costume character. She falls for an artist Sang Gyu (Lee Ki Woo) in the park, but is afraid to take of her mask due to a scar on her face. Choi Seok Hyun (Son Tae Young) works as a part-timer in a convenience store, and breaks up with her boyfriend Jung Ha Suk (Cha Tae Hyun) for not having a job for the last 3 years. That makes Ha Suk finds a job, where he helps other couples split. Yeom Ju Young (Yeom Ju Young) is a working mother who has a bad relationship with her son Park Hee Chan (Yeo Jin Goo) due to her working all the time, but when illness hits her and she is hospitalized, things change..

Hmm, good storyline, star packed and greatly acted, so why don’t I love it? Firstly, too obvious because of the name (I knew that someone was going to die), second, the name, who calls a movie “Sad Movie”?! At first I thought the translation was off, but really it is “sadu mubi2 or something like that... silly.. Okay... thirdly, most of the script was little tacky, I couldn’t really deal with that, so it became long, just a bit too long. I was just expecting some things to happen, and I get bored if they take too long to happen. All in all, a good k-movie, but not my type…

Finding Mr. Destiny Movie Review

Title: Finding Mr Destiny
AKA: First Love / Finding Kim Jong Wook
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Origin: Korea
Release date:December 08, 2010
Cast: Im Su Jung and Gong Yoo.

Han Gi Joon (Gong Yoo) is an uptight, righteously honest and somewhat of a neat freak. Being fired from his job as an travel agent, he opens his own business: and agency that finds first loves.
Seo Ji Woo (Im Su Jung) is an unrecognized director for a famous theater, and workaholic. When her boyfriend proposes to her she refuses, mainly because of her first love she met in India, and whom she can’t forget. Angered, her military father drags her to Gi Joons agency, so that she can either get over her first love or get married to him. At first Ji Woo refuses, but as time passes and she accepts, and together they set out to find Kim Jong Wook, Ji Woos first love, and love for the last 10 years.

Honestly, the cast is great and the couple has superb chemistry, but somehow, I don’t know, didn’t really love the storyline. The story is flat, and the couple screen time is reduced to what I would call ‘Friendship time’, meaning they seem more like friends than lovers or whatever.
This is the first movie Gong Yoo made after his return from the military, so I have to admit his choice of movie was not that good, BUT the fact that he choose to act with Im Su Jung, was brilliant. They make a great couple, and that somehow makes the movie okay. Well it’s better than the usual Korean comedy romances, and it has the ‘umf’ feeling, but then again it’s not with the main characters. Watch it if you like, it’s not all that bad : )

Jenji's verdict
The story I think is really easy to figure out (even someone like me who never does could do it) and it was very typical. I almost gave up on the movie at the beginning because it doesnt as I like to say "catch you" right away. Its something I would watch if I've got nothing better to do, or too lazy hah,. I mean I wouldnt call it bad. It just didnt really have that much happening its as if there was too little going on, its just about them looking for her first love and so on. There isnt much,.. if I may say,, passion. Its just regular. But I still watched it and that means its watchable because I give up straight away if its not.

Sorry I Love You Review

Title: Sorry I Love You

Song Eun Chae (Im Su Jung) is the coordinator for the popular singer Choi Yune (Jung Kyung Ho), whom she by the way is in love with. The two of them have a great relationship, mainly due to their childhood as family friends: Eun Chae’s father has been working for Yune’s mother his entire life, which lead to his entire familie working for the Choi’s. One day, as Eun Chae and Yune are in Australia, Yune decides to confess to actress Kang Min Joo (Seo Ji Young), who is known for scandals and loads of affairs. The hurt Eun Chae decides to go back to Korea, only to be robbed all her stuff. Desperate and bad at English, Eun Chae runs into Cha Moo Hyuk (So Ji Sub), a rough and rude guy, who has been cheated his entire life: he is left by his mother right after birth, adopted by foreign parents only to be abused, his wife leaves him for a rich mob guy who wants to kill him. By an accident, Moo Hyuk gets shot in the head, and as he wakes up, he is told that he has less than a year to live..

One word: soob! Like, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a sad drama before, really. I was seriously so upset at the ending: it’s not a cry-sad drama it’s a heart hurting-sad drama! I felt soo bad for the lead and supporting actors! Eish!
It’s really good, almost brilliantly made, and acting-wise great! Especially considering how old it is… Lols.. I really do recommend this, but not if you don’t like melo-dramas, sad or those repetitive dramas. It’s different and unique.. And if that’s not enough, watch it because of So Ji Sub: currently my fave actor! First Cain and Abel and now this, awesome!
